World Breastfeeding Week

🌺The Department of Pediatrics, TNMC and BYL Nair Hospital in collaboration with IAP Mumbai and MBPC celebrated the World Breastfeeding Week in the form of 2 half day workshops with MMC points for the postgraduate residents on the 2nd and 3rd August, 2024.

🌺The workshop was inaugurated by Dean Dr Sudhir Medhekar & HOD & Professor Dr Surbhi Rathi with all the faculties of the Department of Pediatrics.

🌺The workshop covered various aspects of Breastfeeding like –
▪ First Breastfeed by Dr Surbhi Rathi
▪ Composition and superiority by Dr Kailas Randad Associate Professor & In-Charge NICU
▪ Human Milk Bank by Dr Sushma Malik,Ex-HOD and Professor
▪Collection, Pasteurization and processing by Dr Akash Sarkar, Assistant Professor NICU
▪ Breast Anatomy and Reflexes by Dr Neha Bhongale,Assistant Professor
▪ Attachments and various positions of Breastfeeding by Dipti Shah, Lactation Consultant.

🌺Day 2 of the workshop started with Video on Breast crawl and recap of 1st day done by Dr Sushma Save, Professor Additional ▪Breast & nipple problem by Dr Poonam Wade, Professor Additional
▪ Low Milk production by Dr Sushma Save ▪ Kangaroo Mother Care by Dr Alpana Kondekar, Assistant Professor
▪ Nutrition of LBW by Dr Gulrej, Assistant Professor
▪ Babies with special needs and HIV by Dr Qudsiya Ansari, Assistant Professor NICU.

🌺The workshop had interesting case studies and role plays with active participation from the students, and faculties as well. It was highly appreciated by all attendees.

🌺Participants were from departments of Pediatrics, Community Medicine, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy departments.

🌺Total participants were 75, including the faculties from Department of Pediatrics.

🌺The entire program was coordinated by Dr Sushma Save, Dr Qudsiya Ansari, Dr Akash Sarkate & Dr Kailas Randad, with the support and encouragement from Dr Surbhi Rathi.
