Anemia and Thalassemia Awareness

🌸Team IAP Mumbai in association with Maharashtra IAP conducted an ”Anemia and Thalassemia Awareness” camp along with FREE blood tests for CBC and Hb electrophoresis (if needed, for participants with suspected Thal trait) for the BEd students of H K College of Education at Jogeshwari West, on 4th July 2026.

🌸Dr Jagruti Sanghvi primed the students about the causes, presentation and prevention of Anemia along with the understanding of Thalassemia. The blood tests were carried out through a reputed laboratory from Juhu. Out of 36 students and staff who consented to do the blood tests, 15 had a report suggestive of nutritional anemia and 1 girl was detected as beta thalassemia minor.

🌸The students have been counselled about iron rich diet and iron supplements. Also, family screening of the lone student with thalassemia minor is advised.

🌸The Anemia and Thalassemia Awareness Session was co-ordinated by Dr Jagruti Sanghvi on behalf of IAP Mumbai in coordination with Team MahaIAP under Dr Sanjeev Joshi.
