Breastfeeding awareness session

🌸World Breastfeeding Week

🌸On the occasion of Breastfeeding Week , a Breastfeeding awareness session was conducted on 17/8/26 at Charkop municipal maternity hospital Kandivali West by Dr Nita Jagad and Sister Punam This was a second session conducted at Charkop Maternity hospital on demand by staff and doctors.

🌸It was conducted in the follow up ANC opd for pregnant mothers and their relatives and the staff nurses. There were about 60 attendees.

🌸 The importance of starting breastfeeding early, benefits of Breastfeeding for baby and mother and also the society were explained.
Also about different breastfeeding positions, correct latching, adequacy of breast milk, the issues in Breastfeeding eg engorgement, cracked nipples, mastitis etc and troubleshooting
Importance of necessity to ask for help whenever needed was stressed upon to the mothers. Importance of milk expression, and it’s technique and storage of expressed breast milk were explained in details

🌸The session was co ordinated by Dr Vijaya Kharat, on behalf of Charkop Municipal maternity hospital and Dr Arpita Vakil on behalf of IAP Mumbai
