World Hearing Day – Sir JJ group of hospitals

🌺Helen Keller, in her advancing years, concluded in a letter to a friend that “after a lifetime in silence and darkness to be deaf is a greater affliction than to be blind… Hearing is the soul of knowledge and information of a high order. To be cut off from hearing is to be isolated indeed.”

🌺IAP Mumbai’s NHS program at the Sir JJ group of hospitals since January 2024, has successfully screened more then 350 newborns and counselled the parents with Refer results on OAE, for repeat tests and in few of these BERA.

🌺The World Hearing Day program was celebrated on the 18th of March in the postnatal ward of Sir JJ group of hospitals. Dr Bela Verma, HOD Pediatrics gave a welcome speech and introduction to the importance of UNHS to a group of parents, post graduate students, sisters and paramedical staff. Dr Nehal Shah, President IAP Mumbai then addressed the audience on Kyu – Kab – Kaise of the hearing test. Ms Parizaad Marshal, special guest for the program and ambassador for the NHS for V Connect Foundation then spoke to the parents for the need to do this test on universal basis and also ensure follow up. The founder members of V Connect Foundation, Mrs Vahishtai and Mrs Fatima were also present in the occasion.
