All about Thalassemia for the Practising Pediatrician

🌺On the occasion of World Thalassemia Day IAP Mumbai conducted an online session on All about Thalassemia for the Practising Pediatrician on 8th May 2024 over the zoom platform.

🌺Dr Nehal Shah introduced the session and welcomed all the delegates and introduced the expert Dr Mamta Manglani and moderator Dr Rajesh Chokhani.

🌺Dr Mamta Manglani shared the theme for World Thalassemia Day 2024. She gave valuable insights on diagnostic clues on CBC to definitive diagnosis by HPLC with its limitations and  management of thalassemia with emphasis on iron chelation and periodic monitoring for complications. Dr Rajesh Chokhani moderated the session with extremely relevant questions for the practicing pediatrician which were answered very lucidly by the expert.
Prevention of thalassemia, cost of therapy for thalassemia patients, newer modalities of therapy and antenatal diagnosis were also discussed.

🌺Multiple questions posted by the delegates in the chat box were answered by Dr Mamta Manglani.

🌺The session was attended by 60 delegates and was very well appreciated.

🌺Dr Amruta Shirodkar gave the vote of thanks and ended the session.
