Autism Awareness month

🌺IAP Mumbai in association with Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital (SRH), Dharampur, celebrated the Autism Awareness month on 19th April, 2025 from 9.00 am – 6.00 pm.

🌺The day began with insightful sessions on the NDBI Approach by Dr. Pruthak Shah and IFSP Goal Setting by Dr. Shrunal Kamdar, attended by the multidisciplinary team including therapists, clinical psychologists, special educators, and other hospital professionals. This was followed by an engaging team-building activity aimed at fostering an inter-disciplinary approach to support the holistic development of children. The first half of the day concluded with stimulating case discussions led by a panel comprising Dr. Nehal Shah, Dr. Pruthak Shah, and Dr. Shrunal Kamdar. The sessions were well received by over 27 professionals who participated enthusiastically in the discussions.

🌺The latter half of the day featured vibrant dance performances by the children, followed by informative sessions for parents focusing on nutrition and growth, balanced diet, personal hygiene, awareness of anaemia, therapy reinforcement, and the importance of vaccinations for autistic children by Dr. Nehal Shah. Dr. Palak Shah conducted an engaging session on dental hygiene, demonstrating child-friendly brushing techniques in a simplified manner. These sessions were warmly received by 126 parents and grandparents.

🌺A lively fun fair was also organized, offering a variety of activities such as bowling, shape-making, and a treasure hunt with exciting prizes for both parents and children. A total of 70 autistic children actively participated and thoroughly enjoyed the celebration. Children were given dental hygiene kit and a bouncy ball as a return gift.

🌺With the support of IAP Mumbai, a book library featuring a diverse collection of picture books, short stories, and regional cultural literature was inaugurated by Dr. Nehal Shah and Dr. Mansiji (Head of Pediatrics, SRH), along with other esteemed dignitaries.

🌺As part of the event, a parent support group was also established to foster community engagement and shared learning.

🌺The entire event was organised by Dr. Shrunal Kamdar with the help of Dr Nehal Shah along with Dr. Varsha Shah (head occupational therapist) on behalf of SRH.
