Breastfeeding awareness session

🌸World Breastfeeding Week

🌸On the occasion of Breastfeeding Week , a Breastfeeding awareness session was conducted on 7/8/26 at HBT Trauma hospital Jogeshwari East by Dr Arpita Vakil and Dr Nita Jagad.

🌸It was conducted in a PNC ward for new mothers, pediatric consultant, staff nurses and Incharge sisters.

🌸 Dr Arpita and Dr Nita spoke on importance of starting breastfeeding early, benefits of Breastfeeding for baby and mother and also the society. She explained the counselling about different breastfeeding positions, correct latching, adequacy of breast milk, hand expression, mechanical expression, the issues in Breastfeeding eg engorgement, cracked nipples, mastitis etc and troubleshooting.
Decision making for doctors and skills development for staff nurses was stressed upon and importance of necessity to ask for help whenever needed was explained to the mothers. Importance of milk expression, and its technique were explained in details.

🌸The session was co ordinated by Dr Arvind Sharma (pediatrician) on behalf of HBT Trauma hospital and Dr Nita Jagad on behalf of IAP Mumbai.
