Safety and Mental Health Awareness

🌺IAP Mumbai conducted a Safety and Mental Health Awareness session at Happy Feet NGO, Sion for 25 kids living with chronic diseases like Thalassemia Major and HIV on 30th January 2024.

🌺Dr Reepa Agrawal explained about the sensitive topic
“Good Touch and Bad Touch”. This was done using props and kids were told about body safety rules and measures to be taken if faced with bad touch. The children were also sensitised regarding bullying including cyberbullying. The kids and teens were then asked to draw their “SAFETY CIRCLE” of trustworthy individuals.

🌺As, self awareness of emotions is a pillar for Emotional Intelligence , a simple and effective Reflection Activity of drawing their present emotion emoji was carried out next, followed by a non-judgemental discussion of various emotions.

🌺A Candid, Question & Answer Session was held which helped in resolving doubts of the curious kids and the caregivers were advised for further referrals where indicated.

🌺The “Art of Journalling” was then discussed and special diaries for journalling were distributed to all the kids.This idea was welcomed by the kids and their caregivers. The entire session was highly appreciated by all the attendees.
