Screening Camp for Young Adolescent

🌺As a part of the World Thalassemia Month celebrations, IAP Mumbai organized a screening camp for young adolescent nursing staff, resident doctors and office staff of Ruxmani Lying in Hospital on 28th May, 2025.

🌺An awareness talk for the need of mass screening, was delivered by Dr Nehal Shah to sensitize them with the high incidence, prevalence of this disorder. A total of 27 individuals were screened by Hb Electrophoresis for the same, along with CBC.

🌺On the same lines, a policy decision to advocate a mandatory Hb Electrophoresis as a part of Universal antenatal workup protocol for all antenatal mothers registered at the Ruxmani Lying in Hospital w.e.f June 2025 was passed after discussion and approval from about 20 obstetricians attached to the hospital.
This was a truly productive and landmark decision to go a step ahead towards decreasing the burden of this debilitating problem, with the highest number of cases reported from India.
