
World Asthma Day
🌺Childhood asthma is increasing at an alarming rate, especially in densely populated and rapidly urbanizing areas. One of the leading contributors to this surge is the growing exposure to air pollution—driven by unregulated construction, rising vehicular emissions, and poor environmental policies.
🌺World Asthma Day, observed every year on the first Tuesday of May, serves as a global call to action. This year’s theme, “Make Inhaled Treatments Accessible for ALL,” emphasizes the importance of ensuring every individual with asthma, regardless of their background, has access to the medications that allow them to live and breathe freely.
🌺IAP Mumbai along
with the Paediatric Pulmonology team of NH SRCC Children’s Hospital, headed by Dr Indu Khosla, conducted an Educational program for parents , doctors and experts on 10th May, 2025
🌺The festivities included a drawing competition for children with exciting prizes for the same!
There were parents of 2 children undergoing treatment for Asthma who shared their experiences and emphasised the need for regular abs compliant inhaled therapy.
This was a unique opportunity to hear Mr Pratik Agarwal, Chairman of Serentica Renewables who shared with us his fight against the growing air pollution in the country and his efforts to curb it.
Mr Anant Goenka, Executive Director of The Indian Express explained the “Death by Breath” initiative of The Indian Express, to draw attention of legislative bodies to the hazards of the worsening AQI.
Dr Indu Khosla consultant Pulmonologist spoke about the facts and myths on Asthma.
🌺The event ended with a clear message for the professionals and the common man to work together to combat the growing influence of the pollution triggered wheezy airways in children and transform Wheeze to Ease.
