World Thalassemia day CME

🌺On occasion of the World Thalassemia Day celebrations, a CME on “Advances in Hemoglobinopathies: From diagnosis to cure” headed by Dr Shweta Bansal Pediatric Hemato-Oncologist at Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital in collaboration with IAP Mumbai was organized on 18th May, 2025 from 9.30 am – 4.30 pm on the hybrid platform.

🌺The topic of Hemoglobinopathies, mainy Thalassemia and SCD with a multidisciplinary overview was discussed extensively with special emphasis on Molecular and Prenatal diagnosis.
Safety and challenges of transfusion therapy were explained by the experts in a very practical and crisp manner. Reguar organ, system dysfunction monitoring and management were covered by the subspecialty experts in a comprehensive manner. The role of regular MRI in patients of Thalassemia major to pick up subclinical iron overload probem was emphasized. Experts Dr Roshan Colah and Dr M.B
Agrawal left the delegates completely mesmerized with their talks.The keynote address on “Science, Service and Sustainability: A national road map for elimination” was delivered by Dr M.B.Agrawal.

🌺The CME was attended by 85 delegates on the physical and around 60 on the online platform.

🌺It was organized by Dr Shweta Bansal, Pediatric Hemato-Oncologist and BMT physician and co ordinated by Dr Nehal Shah on behalf of IAP Mumbai.
